Simple Beauty that Appears Complex
The Mistake Rib Cowl from Purl Soho was a great project for me as a beginning knitter because it was nearly as simple as knit 2, purl 2 ribbing but with more depth and loft. These come from the pattern shifting slightly back and forth between rows.
I chose the featured yarn, Mulberry Merino in Dark Loam, a blend of wool and silk which gave the cowl its subtle shine.
Using size 7 circular needles, I cast on 144 stitches, placed a marker and joined my piece to work in the round.
As a beginner , I started, pulled out my progress and started again, more than once before I was ready to settle in and knit.
The Pattern:
Round One: *K2, p2, repeat from* to end of round.
Round Two: P1, *k2, p2, repeat from* to last 3 stitches, k2, p1.
Repeat rounds one and two until the piece measures15 inches from the cast on edge.
Bind off loosely in the stitch pattern and weave in the ends.
This cowl is soft, stretchy and best of all, cozy. Enjoy!
